Bath Time! "Gold Star Bubble Bar" by Lush review

Product: Gold Star Bubble Bar
Company: Lush
Availability: Holiday 2009/Limited Edition

The first thing I noticed when I opened the bag was the pleasant citrusy-lemon smell. I don't know whether the star on top was a different scent than the base, but it as a whole was very pleasant. It smelled clean without being detergent/cleaning solution like.
The bar itself was a little difficult to use. It was hard to crumble under the water, like it was super dense. That's (I guess) a good sign, but it was just hard to use. I had to break it in half and rub it together, which I luckily found creates less random chunks on the bottom of the bath.
On a side note, I was worried that my nails were going to smudge since I had painted them that evening. I found out though that a top coat of Seche Vite and the OPI Drip Dry are legitimate and after 15 minutes I was able to FULLY function with my nails, without worrying about anything. It was as if they had been painted like the day before.
Anyways, the bubbles lasted a LONG TIME. So did the scent. Not all of the bubble bars' bubbles last so long so I was pleased to see the bubbles still around after about 30 minutes. It lasted until (and a little after) the water went lukewarm/cold.
The only concerning thing was that, like all lush bath products, it turned the bath water the color of the product, which was gold... or yellow. The glitters made the water somewhat glittery but you couldn't see it because of the bubbles. There were star shaped glitters on the bottom of the bath when I drained it. Again, I didn't see them until I was done. The water being yellow sort of grossed me out though... the stark, bright yellow of the water just didn't seem like an appropriate bath color.
Overall, I did like this product. If they come out with it again, I'd probably purchase one.

  1. I love lemony stuff...but this is a strange looking Bubble Bar, would you buy it again?

  2. If they made it again, maybe. I love the citrus/lemon smells too so that would be the main reason I'd purchase it again.

I'm sorry that it took me so long to respond to this, btw.
