Rain and Makeup: Face of the Day

I'm happy to let you know that it's pouring rain where I live right now.
Why am I happy about that?
Well, for starters, I walked to work today. And then 20 minutes later I walked back because somebody actually did take my shift (I had requested the day off).
Next, the rain? Well it's a stormy, windy rain, not a simple rain. So an umbrella really was useless.

And, well today I put on my makeup before it started raining. Luckily, out of habit, I used mostly waterproof products because of the chance that somebody might drown and I need to get in and save them. I'm going to be completely shallow now and admit, when I'm saving somebody, I don't want runny mascara. Not. Attractive.

Mac+Lush Haul

Nordstrom was having a 1 day promotion where if you bought 2 Mac eyeshadows, then you'd get 1 free Shroom Eye Shadow.
(Humid, Shroom, Soba)

Very fun because I didn't have Shroom and had been eyeing it... so getting it for free was totally awesome.

Mac Pigment Samples from

Kitschmas, Pink Bronze, Violet, Golden Olive, Lovely Lily, Vanilla, Teal, Cornflower, Blue Brown, Pink Opal
Pink Bronze, Violet, Golden Olive, Lovely Lily, Vanilla, Teal, Cornflower, Blue Brown, Pink Opal, Kitschmas

Cornflower, Blue Brown, Pink Opal, Kitschmas
Vanilla, Teal, Cornflower Blue, Blue Brown
Pink Bronze, Violet, Golden Olive, Lovely Lily

These are the pigments I bought from I bought 3 of each. I heard from Allthatglitters21 that 3 of each sample is enough to press them into an eyeshadow pan. So that's what I did!

Each sample is from between $1.50-$2.00. I bought pans, magnets and a
palette from Stars Makeup Haven (see previous post) and used those to make my own
eyeshadows from these pigments.

I have a youtube video on pressing pigments which will be up soon after this post.

So, as promised here are pics and descriptions for each pigment!
- Kitschmas: Mac describes it as "shimmering pink/mauve pearl". To me, it's a midtown blue-pink with a major silver sparkle to it. Very pretty :]

- Pink Bronze: Bronze/Pink duochrome. It's very very pigmented. I'm not sure how often I'm going to use it though because the bronze comes off so strong.
- Violet: Frosty violet color. Sort of reminds me of the purple from the Alice In Wonderland Palette by Urban Decay
- Golden Olive: Yellowy green frost. Very earthy.
- Lovely Lily: More of a mauvey pink, and another frost. Like the name, it's lovely.

- Vanilla: Goldy, white pearly frost color. Warm and pretty. The duochrome is easier to see in the swatch with all the colors in it.
- Teal: the main color that I wanted. I love teal eyeshadows. Highly pigmented, rich and deep.

- Cornflower: soft midtone purpley blue. Frosty.
- Blue Brown: SUPER pigmented brown that's very very strong. Blue duochrome. The duochrome is easy to see in the pot (above) as well as the swatch with all of the pigments on it. I honestly don't know what to do with it because in some angles you only see the brown and it looks... dirty. But in other lights you see the blue and it's interestingly gorgeous.

- Pink Opal: white with pink duochrome. Great highlight color.
I think the color payoff is much much better in pigment form, but the main reason for me to buy all of this is to press them. I did it by mixing it all with rubbing alcohol (as you'll see in the video).
When pressed you do get a great pigmentation still though. So you can only imagine what it's like in pigment form.
My favorites so far are Teal and Cornflower.

Lush Review: You've Been Mangoed

Sorry for the brief hiatus... I've been busy with school, work... the Olympics.... (obsessing over Sidney Crosby...)

But, I figured I'd update my blog so that you guys wouldn't think I've abandoned you :p

My first experience with Lush was actually the "You've Been Mangoed" bath melt.
I have previously reviewed the Therapy Massage Bar, but the actual first product I had ever used was this bath melt.

I recently got another shipment from Lush, and this was part of the stuff I ordered. I ordered a couple, so I could finally take a photo of it and review it for you guys.

The first thing I noticed, when I first used it, was that it didn't smell like mangoes at all. It's a bar that's the color of a mango, says "mango" and is called "You've Been Mangoed" and it didn't smell like mangoes. Confusing. What it does smell like though is a refreshing and lovely lemon. Not like... cleaning product. But a more luscious lemon (ha. lush-ous...). I mean, I would have loved that it smelled like mangoes, but the lemon scent is really quite nice.

It takes a while for it to melt in the bath, which you'd think it wouldn't do because of how big it is in real life. It's about an inch and a half wide, and 3-4 inches long. Not big at all. For me I found that it did last me a good 30-40 mins, without touching it. Obviously if you squeeze it or stress it out, it's not going to last as long. It's a product that I'd use if I was able to take a leisurely bath.

The oils that come out of it are very very orange and kinda stuck to the side of my bathtub, which was a little annoying because I wanted those oils to... well stick to me and condition my skin. It did make my bath water nice and moisturizing though and you will be able to feel the difference.

Overall this is one of my favorite products I've tried from Lush, and that includes 2 bubble bars, a shower jelly, 3 soaps, and 2 massage bars.

I've a whole box of new Lush stuff that I will be hauling (in a YT vid) so I'm excited to try all my new goodies.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here's a peak at the Valentine's photo I took for everybody, because I forgot to buy Valentine's and didn't have time today (remember when everybody gave out Valentine's in 1st grade?). They were going to be Jonas Brothers ones (I'm not gonna lie, I have a soft spot for the Jo Bros). So, to make up for it, there's a pic of the Jonas Brothers, me and a heart I made (with a mustache).

Makeup is the same as earlier Photobooth, just added a rich, matte, red lip (which I had to make since I don't have a matte red lipstick...)
Red Lip:
- Carmex (light coat)
- Mac Hot Tahiti Lipstick, softly blended in with finger
- Rimmel London Bordeaux Lipstick, 3 dots on bottom lip, softly blended in with finger
- Hot Topic Red Eye Shadow, 4 dots on bottom, 3 dots on top, blended in with finger
- Clinique Angel Red lipstick, one swipe on bottom
Smudge lips together. Clean edges with concealer. Accentuate cupid's bow with white kohl pencil.
Have a safe, fun and love-filled Valentine's Day!
Love, Yukie

Mid-Day Photobooth: Today's Makeup

Long Lashes, simple contoured eye, soft pink cheeks and lips. Perhaps my Valentine's Day makeup?

- White matte base (Coastal Scents concealer quad, white)
- Soft matte, medium brown in crease, applied with Mac 217 (Soft Brown by Mac would work, I used a color in the Sleek Storm Palette)
- Mac Mylar on the lid as well as the crease, applied with Sigma SS239
- Soft matte, warm brown in the crease, applied with Mac 224
- Blended with clean Mac 224 so edges are soft.
- Soft sweep of Mac Phloof! over the lid to add a little shimmer, any fluffy brush (Mac 217) will do
- Liquid Liner (L'Oreal Lineur Intense), black, on top lash line, slightly winged
- Ardell 110 Lashes on top
- L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara on top and bottom lashes
- White eyeliner on waterline
- Benefit Dandelion on apples of cheeks, applied with Mac 124
- Warm brown contour in hollows of cheeks. I used an eyeshadow from my Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette, and a Clinique small blush brush.
- Benefit High Beam on top of cheek
- Red Lip (see next post for the details)

Mac Cosmetics Haul

• Mac 204 Lash Brush
Just a spooley. I'm not anywhere near a store that sells disposable ones, and so I'm fine with just spending $11 for one that I'm going to clean and keep forever.

• Mac 15 Palette
15 spaced magnetic palette that fits Mac Eye Shadows. The palette itself is larger than the Stars Makeup Haven palette. Compared to the MUFE palette, the eye shadows are much easier to remove in the Mac palette.

Top Row:
Mylar, Vanilla, Patina, Satin Taupe, Woodwinked
Tilt, Phloof!, All That Glitters, Sable, Cranberry
Digit, Shale, Nocturnelle, Shadowy Lady, Black Tied

- Mylar (Satin): Good highlight color. Slightly pinker creamy-white. Slight shimmer.
- Vanilla (Velvet): Another highlight color. Peachier and slightly darker than Mylar. Small silver/white glitters.
- Patina (Frost): Goldy-taupe. Similar to Woodwinked, less shiny though. Good neutral color for the lid.
- Satin Taupe (Frost): Taupe, cooler than Patina, slightly darker. One of my favorites to just wash over the lid.
- Woodwinked (Veluxe Pearl): Warm "antiqued" gold. It's finish is super metallic and gorgeous. Another great neutral to wash over the lid.
- Tilt (Frost): Described on the Mac website as "Violet w/blue-green pearl". I see it as an aqua with a green/aqua shot through it. Very pretty, can't wait to use it :D.
- Phloof! (Frost): Frosty off white. Like the color of cream cheese frosting. Another color for a highlight, especially in the inner corner.
- All That Glitters (Veluxe Pearl): Reddish bronzey beige color. Basically coppery.
- Sable (Velvet): Goldy-brown tinted with a reddish bronze? It's hard to explain... it has the same base color as Patina but instead of a gold overtone it's like a copper overtone.
- Cranberry (Frost): Cranberry color with a frostyness of... pink? It's not silver because then that'd be metallic. But very fall, very pretty.
- Digit (Satin): Soft violet. Similar to Crystal, just not duochromed.
- Shale (Satin): Close to Hypnotizing (Love Lace Collection), Satin Taupe... in that family. More purple than Satin Taupe. Very good substitute for Hypnotizing. Silvery, Mauvey Plum.
- Nocturnelle (Frost): "Pinked-up chrome purple" is what Mac describes it to be. It's a mid-tone red-purple. Similar to Underland/Flash from the Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Palette.
- Shadowy Lady (Matte): Blackened plum. Like the color of a blackberry in real life.
- Black Tied (Velvet): Matte black with silver sparkles.

Mylar, Vanilla, Patina, Satin Taupe, Woodwinked
Tilt, Phloof!, All That Glitters, Sable, Cranberry

• Mac Dazzleglasses: She-Zam, Phiff!, Jingle-Jangle
All three of these Dazzleglasses are on the Goodbyes list on the Mac website. Very sad, because they're all very pretty.
Left: She-Zam (top), Jingle-Jangle (middle), Phiff! (bottom). Right: She-Zam, Phiff!, Jingle-Jangle.

- She-Zam:
This is a beautiful silver sparkle with slight lilac sparkles inside it. It's super hard to depict in a photo... hopefully you can see it? Like all the Dazzleglasses, it's sticky but mega sparkly.

- Phiff!
Pretty pink and gold sparkles. Looks more like pink gold (as in the jewelry).

- Jingle-Jangle:
Strawberry-salmon pink color. Gold sparkles. Gorgeous.

• Mac Spring Colour Forecast
Colour 3 Eye Shadow Quad
Quad: Mink Pink (top left), Bruised Plum (top right), Black Tulip (bottom left), Jungle Moon (bottom right).
Swatches: Jungle Moon, Black Tulip, Bruised Plum, Mink Pink
- Mink Pink (Veluxe): Neutral soft pink. Super close to my skin tone, so I'd use it as a highlight or as a color to tone down the edges on my eye shadow.
- Bruised Plum (Veluxe Pearl): Frosted "dirty" mauve. Similar to shale, just more pink.
- Black Tulip (Frost): Frosty grape color. Like a purple marker by Crayola, just frosted.
- Jungle Moon (Matte): Very similar to Shadowy Lady. Jungle Moon is slightly lighter.

Beigeland Lipstick
Beigeland is a frost. It's beige (duh...) with a silvery gold shimmer run through it. It's the first frost lipstick I've bought so I'm excited to see how to use it in a look.

Phlox Lipstick
Phlox is a glaze. The pink barely shows up on my skin. What's gorgeous about this color is that it has a blue reflect to it that really shows through. Hard to photograph, but is very lovely in real life.

Nanogold Eye Shadow
Nanogold is a "Luster". Normally it's spelled "Lustre" so I don't know if it's a different formula or if it's the same...then again the Mac website says "Lustre", so my sticker is just wrong. Nonetheless, it's very different from the other Lustres. This one is not flakey at all. It's a very pretty highlight color, similar to Phloof! just more yellow.

Radicchio Lipstick
Lustre. Pretty medium pink. Different color than I have purchased before, and I don't normally buy pink lipsticks, so really this (and the others) are totally outside my comfort zone. It's a smooth finish, not as shiny as a glaze, but about the same color pay-off (mid-sheer).

Bubblegum Lipstick
Glaze. Glazes are my favorite finish because it's like having a gloss and lipstick on at the same time. This lipstick is particularly pretty because it's a bubblegum pink with a gold shimmer. Like Bubbalicious bubblegum. Very cute.

Da Bling Eye Shadow
Veluxe Pearl. Sort of like Bubblegum lipstick but in eye shadow form. Medium pink with goldy shimmer in it.

Lavender Wind Lipglass
Similar to Little Vi Tinted Lipglass, but less sheer, and less pink. Cute color as well. It's another purple color that I like. It as a pretty blue reflect in it like Phlox does.
