NHL #9: Colorado Avalanche

This one I sort of wandered through and I actually like how it turned out.
Colorado's colors are Steel Blue, Burgundy, White, Black and Silver.
Made it sort of cut creasey by adding the burgundy in the crease and leaving the lid very light.
I used all new products on this look and I ended up enjoying them all (Too Face Enchanted Glamourland palette and UD Book of Shadows 3 NYC, mainly, and some Nars Laguna).
More photos and a full list of products after the jump! :D

NHL #8: Chicago Blackhawks

Oh hey there long lost Chicago Blackhawks/Thanksgiving Makeup Tutorial blog post. How's it going??
So this was originally for Thanksgiving. I looked at the team colors for Chicago (red, white and black) and thought, "well, my last one was allllll red, black and white" so I decided to go more earthy and based on the logo itself (which can be seen below). The feathers were really what I based it on, and then I took the red and made it less... bright, more wearable. I was going to say "Native American Inspired" but meh, it wasn't really.
I added in some glitter to make it more fun and something you can wear just generically into the holidays, parties, games etc.
So follow the link to see more photos the full list of products I used :)

Holiday 2010: China Glaze Tis' The Season To Be Naughty Or Nice

This year China Glaze came out with 12 polishes for their Holiday Collection. I only bought 6 of them, since the other ones didn't seem that unique to me, or seemed like colors that wouldn't look good on me.
There was a good mix of glitter, shimmer and creme, which is always expected of China Glaze. They're not afraid to mix it up a bit, when comparing to brands like OPI or Essie for example (I swear Essie hasn't ever had a glitter, right?). They always manage to have bright colors too. Plus they're way inexpensive when you compare on standard prices (aka not etailers).
So, here they are (after the jump)! Photos and swatches as always:

NOTW: Winter Snowflakes

I first saw the design for this from sayanythingbr00ke's video last year. I absolutely loved it but didn't have any Konad stuff to use so I never tried it. I got my first set of Konad stuff a few months ago and have been dying to do this specific look ever since I bought it.
Products I used:
- "For Audrey" by China Glaze as the base turquoise blue color
- Konad plate m59 (for both snowflakes)
- Konad Special Polish in White, Mac "Ming Blue" (for snowflakes)
- OPI "Happy Anniversary" as the glitter on top.
This photo (with the flash) shows the detail more clearly. The color of "For Audrey" is somewhere in between both photos.
Brooke used different products for the detail in her video but I essentially did the same thing. I absolutely looooooove it :D Perfect winter manicure.
P.S. this manicure lasted a surprisingly long time. I used the Zoya Color Lock System's base coat and Seche Vite on top. I managed to have it on my nails, chip free for a whole week.

Full Nail Polish Collection List of Colors

Before I unleash the list, I just have some procedural things to go over. If you don't want to read through these tiny details, then you can just click the link and go to the pics, swatches and names.
First off, swatches are all painted the same way as I always do it:
Second, I get a lot of questions as to how I store my nail polish. And here it is:
Lol... yup. Just in a row. On top of a shelf.
If you ever saw my room tour, then you probably briefly saw this. It's the top shelf that used to be on my desk... it's one of those desks that is just a table then on top is a removable book shelf thing. I moved it off my desk to make my desk into a vanity and then put it over to the side and put all my nail polish on top of it. They just sit in rows, and are separated by brand... you're looking at the OPI/China Glaze sections and there are some Nars and Ma in the front. They're then organized by color within each brand. I know what order they're in so I don't really need to see the bottles when I'm looking for a specific color... I'm just obsessed like that lol.
I think that's... it?
Oh. I have all the pictures/swatches and names organized in rainbow order, like the video. There will be flash and non flash photos of everything. So that's all of it :D

Holiday 2010: OPI Burlesque Collection

So these nail polishes from OPI are for their Holiday season this year. They came out... I want to say end of October?
As a completely unexpected turn from OPI, this collection came with 6 glitters and 6 shimmers. And no cremes. I predicted before that the really finely milled, super shimmery colors would be popular, but not to the extent that OPI would have an entire collection that had absolutely no cremes... And 6 glitters? Unheard of.
And for them all to be colors that aren't really "safe" as OPI tends to lean toward is unreal. So, OPI, bravo. I am pleased, as are 100s of other nail polish hoarders (and yes, I am admitting to be a nail polish hoarder now).
I did watch the movie too. It was a Christina Aguilera vocal showcase (I mean who was going to go see that for the plot and the deep acting brought upon by Cher...). But the whole movie I was thinking how appropriate the colors from the collection were. The glitter and the shimmer were perfect. Yes, a typical red creme would have been great too, but we don't need another one of those from OPI and the movie was so much more than just a red creme.
Anyways, here are the photos (after the jump). I didn't get all of them, since I'm not an orange glitter sort of girl and the gold glitter didn't seem like something I needed. I did get all the shimmers though.

NOTW: "Rouge Fatal" - Chanel

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, nobody does classic red like Chanel does classic red.
This is probably the best nail polish.... ever. Well of my red nail polishes.
The picture above is after an entire week. Yeah. An entire week of life guarding, cooking, washing things, day care, swimming, school... and not a chip. There's slight ware at the edges but it's slight.
This is the most opaque creme finish polish I have. It's also very thick. So the Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes are opaque but not overly thick, this one is thick so really 1 coat suffices, and you get a true, basically blood red with the 1 coat. This was 2 or 3 since I was experimenting with the polish.
The opaqueness makes the polish so wonderful too. There are plenty of red cremes out there. I have 5 or 6 myself. But they're all kind of sheer... there's almost a jelly like finish to most of them where as this one is full, thick and richly just a red.
The thing I was most amazed about was the quality of the nail polish itself. I wanted to test out all my base coats so each finger had a different base coat. Then I applied 2 or 3 coats on each finger (I say 2 or 3 because it was 2 regular coats and one baby coat) and then applied Seche Vite on top. I was excited to see which base coat was the best, but then nothing happened. A week went by and my nail polish was still all there. I guess that means that yes, those base coats are all great, but when you have a really high quality nail polish then it makes a huge difference.
Obviously, you'd expect all of this from a nail polish you pay $23 for. I mean, Paradoxal worked fantastically for me as well, just not as well as Rouge Fatal. And there have been some Chanel polishes (not that I've tried but read about) that don't live up to this one. And it really sucks to pay $23 for a really really good nail polish when you can go to Rescue Beauty Lounge for pretty much the same quality for $5 less. Or even some China Glaze, OPI, Essie etc polishes that range between $3 - $10. I just haven't been this in love with the nail polish and in every single characteristic of the polish before.

Holiday 2010: Mac A Tartan Tale

This is the first of many long overdue posts for a lot of haul videos that I've posted. I'm sorry this is late - so late that you're probably not going to be able to purchase most of these items anymore.
But I did say that I'd post the photos and swatches of everything, so here they are.
In case you don't watch my videos, I got sick, and then I had my non-internet life to deal with. So yeah. Thats why activity has been so low here. I also broke my pinky. So typing isn't easy right now lol.
Anyways, here they are! (Well, after the jump)
