This is the second release for the OPI and Serena Williams collaboration. Again for those who don't know, or couldn't guess, Serena Williams is a professional tennis player, who also designs clothing, is friends with Tyra Banks and has a nail tech license.
The first duo pack released, released in conjunction with the Australian Open, was Simply Smashing, and it came with a glass fleck dirty tennis ball green shimmer polish, and the mega coveted Black Shatter.
This time around, the duo packs were released with the French Open. Instead of one, she released 2.
The first is called Spark de Triomphe, and comes with a very platinum/white gold glitter and White Shatter. The other is called Rally Pretty Pink (which for some reason I hate saying), which comes with a purpley magenta based gold shimmer polish and a Red Shatter.
It's fun that they released two in this collection, more to love haha. OPI also has a Blue, Turquoise and Navy Shatter coming out, but I have no clue when it'll be available. Some people have been able to get them in stores, but none of the stores near me has them yet, and TransDesign has yet to have them online either.
And as mentioned before, Sally Hansen is coming out with crackle polishes as well. Some have been able to find them at Walgreens already, so I will soon go venture out to find them!
Spark de Triomphe is an off silver glitter with off silver glitter pieces. I say off silver because it has a touch of yellow in it, making it sort of like a white gold. The base of the polish is very very fine glitter, almost foily, and then it's embellished with bigger hexagonal pieces of glitter that are a touch goldier than the base. Very pretty and flashy.
Formula for this wasn't bad at all. It didn't gunk up while I was swatching so that was good news. It's not completely a foolproof way of determining yet though. The polish was on the slightly watery side, which may keep it from being hard to apply later, especially when layering multiple coats.
This was meant to be paired with the White Shatter, which can be seen in the photo on the left, below:
Because Spark de Triomphe is a glitter, the White Shatter with gather in the grooves of the texture, as seen when I layered Black Shatter over all those glitters. To avoid that, just put a top coat on before Shattering. You want to put the Shatter polishes over completely dry polish though, as it will pull whatever is underneath it away with it.
White Shatter over a cream finish, here over Black Onyx by OPI, shattered as expected. The thinner the coats, the more stringy and linear the cracks, the thicker the coats, the more boxy the cracks. Essentially the same as China Glaze's Lightning Bolt.
If you prefer the wider brush supplied by OPI though, then this might be the one you lean towards. I found China Glaze's thinner brush a little bit more annoying to deal with since the Crackle/Shatter polishes dry so quickly.
