I was sitting looking at my nails and realized that I wanted to do something flashy. Something sparkly, fun, deep, and summery and festive.
So, I decided to look through my stash and then came across 2 of the OPI Katy Perry colors and thought, PERFECT.
I did "Last Friday Night" first, which is a periwinkle blue jelly base with a lot of aqua, green and blue opalescent glitters in it. It's meant to be sheer and jelly like. It reminds me of a jelly fish and the ocean. It's probably one of my favorites.
I decided to take it off after it started to chip and went for OPI's "Teenage Dream", also from the same collection. It's a light pink jelly base with small silver glitter particles and larger hexagonal holographic glitter pieces. It's gorgeous and super sparkly. It's also like a pink disco ball in a bottle. Love!
It didn't totally wreck my boredom though so I decided to layer "Last Friday Night" over it. And Voila! Boredom was gone. In the photo of "Teenage Dream" above (photo on the right), there's one coat of "Last Friday Night" on my ring finger. You can see the slight blue cast it creates and how deep the glitter gets.
As for formula for these, "Last Friday Night" is a little annoying because it can get goopy. Just the nature of the extreme sheer jelly base can make it really clumpy at some points because of the glitter inside of it. "Teenage Dream" was much more easy to work with. Unlike a traditional glitter, I think the base having some color in it helps it apply smoother. It does dry a little rough so a top coat will not only make it a thousand times better because of the shiny, but it also smooths down the top.
The base coat I used was Nubar's Base Coat and Seche Vite Top Coat.
OPI's Katy Perry collection was limited edition but can be found in some stores still. They're about $8-9.
