I take back that stop 1 was Macys. Yes, with Kate, stop 1 was Macys, but before that I went to CVS without her.
I went to go pick up a few things for Davensara (remember that epic Canadian Makeup Haul?) and then I browsed just for myself - I can't not buy things at CVS. It's a sad, and pathetic incapability haha.
I did budget myself so there wasn't as much as I could have gotten but I thought this had a few good purchases in it.
Photos and swatches after the jump!
Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil
I did a post on the Josie Maran and then did a post comparing it to the Moroccan Oil then contemplated buying this one, but never did until now. It was the only one left in my CVS, and it's always sold out so I thought I'd pick one up.
It was about $10 and you get MUCH more product for price versus both the Moroccan Oil and the Josie Maran. I thought the bottle would actually be bigger, but look! False packaging! Look at the size of the bottle vs the size of the box. At least the other 2 prepared me for the size of the bottle. I shouldn't be complaining though, because again, the product is so much less expensive than the other 2.
This oil definitely smells the best of all 3 oils, but it has the most annoying dispensing cap. It just sort of gets wasted much easier because it doesn't have a pump like the Josie Maran, and the hole is in the cap, not part of the bottle, if that makes sense. It's like a moisturizer, how it dispenses, which isn't great since it's an oil and it can get messy if you don't pay attention.
Milani Jewel FX 530 Gems
This caught my eye because it's supposed to be a better version of Deborah Lippman's Happy Birthday glitter polish, which is super rave worthy. Apparently the glitter applies much better with this one and since it's a fraction of the price, I thought it was a worthy investment. Which isn't to say that at some point in the near future I'm not going to purchase the Deborah Lippman.
530 Gems is a very festive multi glitter - different sizes, different colors. It's like the confetti that falls at the end of those shows at Disneyland.
You can see though that the talk about it is true... the glitter does apply pretty well, especially at 2 and 3 coats. I don't know when I'm going to use this, possibly on my birthday?
Orly Rocket Science
This I held off on buying just because it's an exact dupe of the China Glaze halloween polish from last year. The only real reason I bought this was so that I never run out of the color.
The color itself is another olivey green shimmer. Very swampy. Gorgeous. 3 coats gets a good, opaque finish with the depth that you'd want out of a shimmer like this. Not much else to say about it, besides that it's about $7 and can be found at CVS.
Nicole by OPI Lifesaver
First off, I am ashamed of myself for buying one of the Justin Bieber nail polishes. I really am. I can't stand him and I think it's embarrassing that he made a nail polish collection. That being said... just look at the color! It's beautiful!
It's a light turquoise creme, along the lines of China Glaze's For Audrey.
I love the color, the formula is great, and it was about $7.
The think I'm going to complain about is the brush. It's short, stiff and got a weird shape and I don't like it. I found that it streaked into my polish as I was swatching. Not cool dude. I'm also more of a flexible brush sort of person - I know some people really hate that.
2 coats would regularly be ok with this polish, but the brush causes streaks so I'd recommend 3.
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip Gloss Rose Cocoon
I'd heard quite a few good things about these glosses so I decided have my go at them. There were quite a few options in terms of color but this one seemed to fit the best for me.
It's a light berry pink with shimmer in it. It's on the sheer side, which I've found comes with "moisturizing" glosses in the drugstore.
The wand in the tube is pointy and sort of bendy, but is the same material as doe-foot applicators. It's a little odd actually. It bends at the joint between the plastic wand part and the actual applicator, and then the rest of the applicator is stiff.
The gloss also has a strange fruity slightly flowery smell to it. I said in the video that it reminded me of Lip Smacker's old and long gone food smelling line they had and it still does. It doesn't smell like the coffee one or whatever, but it does smell like one of those products. It's weird but nostalgic.
The gloss is moisturizing, and the shimmer doesn't stick even if the gloss fades away and lasts about 2 to 3 hours depending on if you eat a lot or talk a lot.
