Urban Outfitters Polishes - Silver, Pink, Green Holo & Mystic / Silver Holographic Polish Comparisons!

Hellooooo internets!
I'm a slacker!
These photos should have gone up a LONG while ago, but school and life got in the way again (annoying, right? lol) so this took a backseat.
I'll get straight to the point - Urban Outfitters came out with Holo polishes and I died.
More like hoarded. But emotionally died.
Their permanent shades also are sort of cool and are always on sale so I purchased one of those as well. They had a flakie polish!
I first found out that Urban Outfitters had holo polishes via Instagram - Ommorphia posted a photo of the Silver Holo and said it satiated her need for Chanel's holo so that immediately caught my attention.
Slowly other people started posting photos, and I realized there was also a green and pink as well. Doubting the availability of those polishes in my area, I didn't even bother to go look at the Urban 10 mins away from my house because I thought "they probably didn't even get them in". I did end up checking and to my delight, not only did they have them in stock, there was a MOUNTAIN of them. People were just casually walking past it and looking through the other polishes available. They had no idea. I was sort of shocked. Then I realized, they probably don't even realize because they're not me lol.
Anyways, I bought all three holo colors they had available.
First I'll show you the flaky polish I purchased called Mystic.
Mystic is a dark blue jelly base with smaller pieces of the orange-green shift flakes. The pieces are pretty fine, and are slightly smaller than the flakes available in the Essie flaky that was released last year.
It builds to an opaque blue at 3 coats. It reminds me a lot of the Deborah Lippmann flaky but was a little less thick and a little easier to deal with.

Now for Silver Holo.
This, my friends, is the most inexpensive and one of the brightest silver holographic polishes I've encountered and purchased. And it was released by Urban Outfitters. And the main demographic of shoppers of Urban Outfitters just have NO IDEA. I still can't get over that.
Originally this retailed for $10, which considering that (before Color Club released their Halo Hues) the rest of the holos I have are either discontinued or from outside the US, I was just astounded.
Silver Holo is a bright linear silver holographic that is opaque in 2 coats. It's base color is slightly more gray than other silver holos like the Nfu Oh silver.
The swatches above were taken in natural indoor light so you can see, even without being in the sun or anything that it's quite bright and it's holographic effect is pretty strong.
I've included comparison photos (no very little description, just because the photos speak for themselves) the almost all of my silver holos for you after the jump so you can see where the Urban polish fits in with the rest.
I honestly don't know if stores still have them - I honestly don't think my store was going to sell out of them for a long time, but I don't know. I know, I should have posted this earlier, but time just got away from me.
If you do find them in your local stores, I totally TOTALLY recommend them :)

Texture-wise:
  • Up Colors - the holo is slightly more scattered, but the opacity of the color is very similar to Glitter Gal's silver.
  • Ozotic - Slightly more gel like formula, and the holo is slightly on the scattered side, although the particles are finer than the Up Colors. This has the lightest/least gray silver colored base.
  • Nfu Oh - Super linear, and has a more foil like formula. It actually applies a flat silver, and dries to a holo finish. It's less like silver holo particles suspended in a base, and more just like it's actually a different type of pigment.
  • Glitter Gal - fairly linear, with smaller particles like the Ozotic. It doesn't have the same gel like base though. It's color is a slightly more gray silver.
  • Urban - The grayest of color bases. Second to the Nfu Oh in linear strength.

Next I have Pink Holo and Green Holo to show you.
Just like Silver Holo, these are super strong linear holos just with colored bases.
The pink is really similar to all those light, pastel colored holos that are (and were) available from all the popular holo making brands.
Green Holo is more unique in that it's a light emerald green base.
Here are the pics - Enjoy!
